Update:

In September of 2013 Dominion Transmission announced it would build a new headquarters in White Oaks in Bridgeport.

Work is now underway.

The building will hold nearly 300 employees and will replace the headquarters located in Clarksburg.

Ground work is currently being completed at the site near Thrasher Engineering, and the foundation will be laid in June.

The employees expect to move into the building in September 2015.

Dominion Resources announced plans Tuesday to build a new operating headquarters for its Dominion Transmission natural gas pipeline and storage business in the White Oaks business center in Bridgeport.

The move is planned for 2015 and tentative plans are for the building to be an approximately 100,000 square-foot, four-story structure, according to a news release from Dominion. The company is currently considering several sites in the White Oaks complex.

The building will house nearly 300 employees and will replace the current headquarters in Clarksburg, officials said. Dominion Transmission vice president-Pipeline Operations Jeff Barger said that Dominion considered renovating the current building in Clarksburg but decided to build a new one in part to avoid disruption of its employees.

Officials said Dominion plans to work with Clarksburg and Harrison County officials to find future use for the current Clarksburg headquarters.

Dominion announced in March that it would be transferring 94 transmission, field services, financial management and services company positions to Richmond, Va.
