Three area chapters of Make-A-Wish combined with the start of the new month.

Make-A-Wish Northern West Virginia, Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and Make-A-Wish Southern West Virginia became one chapter, known as Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia going forward.

The new chapter will keep headquarters in Pittsburgh, Morgantown and Charleston.

"What is most important to us is finding and granting wishes for eligible children," President and CEO Judith Stone said in a news release. "Since this chapter has managed the Southern West Virginia territory since 2000, this newly combined chapter allows us to have more centralized and financially efficient management so we can reach as many children as possible and grant their wishes."

The money raised in Northern West Virginia will stay in the 32 counties the organization covers, and the Morgantown office will continue with volunteering, special events and granting wishes without interruption. Former Northern West Virginia Board Chairman, Larry Blalock, will join the Greater PA/WV Board. Blalock is a member/office managing member of Jackson Kelly PLLC in Wheeling.

Make-A-Wish has a goal of granting 55 wishes in Northern West Virginia in the next year, and the chapter goal is to grant 762 wishes.
