If you are like Thomas Brooks, you probably have old cell phones sitting in a drawer at home.
He said his family is always trying to keep up with the latest technology.
"That's why my wife is here, she wants to keep up with my daughter, so I have to buy her $150 phone," Brooks said.
There are plenty of ways you can cash in on your old phones, but not every phone is equal and finding the best deal isn't always easy.
Sites like Usell.com and Gazelle.com allow you to get cash for your old phones. They take brands including Blackberry, LG, and Samsung.
If you wanted to sell an iPhone 4S, 16 GB, in good condition, Usell.com offers $210. On Gazelle.com, the best offer for the same phone is $190.
There are stores like nTelos in Charleston where you can take your old phone and turn it in for cash. An employee at the store said an iPhone 4 goes for about $100 to $150.
Stores including Apple and Best Buy will give you a store credit for phones.
It may take more effort, but going online will probably get you the best cash for your would-be trash.
