Vandalism strikes one Alderson store

Posted: Updated:

Shoppers at the little general store in Alderson got more than they bargained for when a man came into the store and started causing mayhem.

Alderson Police Chief Jeremy Bennett was called to the scene and said it looked "like a war zone." Bennett said the suspect "immediately started throwing things all over the store."

Though most of the damage is gone, the floor of the little general is still sticky from tons of spilled drinks and broken wine glasses. Witnesses said the man threw 12 bottles of wine and one of the bottles went through the glass door of the beer cave.

EMT was initially called since it was believed the man was having a seizure. The man was incubated and held down before nurses could treat him.

When he is released from the hospital he will be arrested and charged with destruction of property and disorderly conduct.
