This is Delmel, or Del, as he prefers to be called.  He's 14 years old, in ninth grade, and big into sports.

We met him at Pro Performance in Morgantown, where their conditioning coaches gave him a workout and some tips for improving his play in football, soccer, and basketball.

Usually, Del is the one teaching his friends how to play or showing them trick shots like the spin shot he's able to sink on the basketball court.

He's also working on his moves in video games like Madden NFL, but Del said his friends usually have the upper hand there.

"They beat me," he said, admitting that there is some competitive smack-talking around the games.

Del has a shy smile that is infectious. He's also easy-going and up to just about any challenge.

Del said he wants to be part of a big family with lots of brothers and sisters to spend time with.

"Going fishing, basketball, sports," he said.

If you'd like to learn more about Del or any other waiting child in West Virginia, call Mission West Virginia at 866-CALL-MWV or email them at adoptmissionwv.org.
