West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant traveled to the "Best of West Virginia" to kick off the next phase of her political career.

Tennant held a news conference at Tamarack on Tuesday to announce that she would enter the race for U.S. Senate.  If she were to win, Tennant would replace Sen. Jay Rockefeller in Washington, D.C.

"After talking with my family, friends and supporters, and with many prayers, I have reached a decision about a campaign for U.S. Senate," said Tennant.

The announcement at Tamarack was made at 9:30 a.m.  From there she is headed to the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston and the Mountainlair at WVU.  On Thursday, Tennant plans to make her announcement in the panhandles.  She will be at Independence Hall in Wheeling during the morning, then head to the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg for the afternoon.
