PRINCETON -

The U.S. Marshals Service in West Virginia is working with the Joint Fugitive Task Force in Mercer County to find Michael Cunningham.

Cunningham was on home confinement while waiting for his trial in a fraudulent schemes case out of Mercer County.  He apparently cut off the bracelet that showed his location, put it in a package, and addressed it to his probation officer.  A postal worker, who works at the Post Office located in the federal building in Bluefield, heard the package beeping.  That lead workers to scan the package with an x-ray machine revealing an electronic device with wires.

Chris Lair with the U.S. Marshals Service said the contents of the package, along with the fact that it was addressed to a probation officer, lead them to take precautions, including the shut down of the federal building in Bluefield on Tuesday afternoon. Lair said that the reason the bracelet was beeping was because it was outside of the area Cunningham was supposed to be in for his home confinement.

Law enforcement officers are working together in their effort to find Cunningham.  He is a 51-year-old white man who stands 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighs around 260 pounds.  Cunningham's last known address was 250 Blackberry Falls Road in Camp Creek.  Anyone with information on Cunningham's location is asked to contact their local police.
