A ribbon cutting is set to take place on Thursday morning at Stratton Elementary school.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin (D-W.Va.) will be at the school for the kick-off event that is taking place at 10 a.m.  The governor will be joined by Jake Steinfield, the Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils.  They will be opening the state-of-the-art Live Positively Fitness Center.

Stratton Elementary was one of three schools in West Virginia that were selected as National Championship Schools.  The honor was in recognition of the schools efforts to promote physical fitness innovations and healthy living standards to their students.

On Wednesday, Gov. Tomblin was in McDowell County to cut the ribbon on a similar facility at Southside K-8 in War.  The third school to receive a new fitness center is Bridge Street Middle in Wheeling.
