We are less than a month away from one of Southern West Virginia's most proud event.

Bridge Day brings thousands from all 50 states and multiple countries overseas. The day includes around 400 base jumpers and 200 repellers over the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville.

180 craft and food vendors will be set up for the big day.  A representative with the New River Gorge Visitor Center told 59News how the event has a positive impact on our community.

"Our area hotels, cabins, B and B's and restaurant they all do a great business. It's a topping on our ice cream with Gauley Season and Bridge Day it gives it a great end," said Sharon Cruikshank.

Bridge Day is October 19th this year.
