Pirates make playoffs, Shaq now a minority owner and more

---Pittsburgh fans have a reason to smile this week. After a 21 year drought the Pirates are finally making it back to the playoffs.

Former West Virginia Power player Starling Marte hit a home run in the 9th to take the lead for the Bucco's.

The Pirates defense closed the deal by throwing a runner out at the plate.

Once the St. Louis win over the Nationals became final, Pittsburgh clinched at least a National League Wild Card spot with the 2-1 win over the Cubs.

---Penn State received goods news Tuesday as the NCAA said it will reduce the sanctions against the University's football program by gradually restoring scholarships after many were taken away as a result of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.

Starting in 2014, the program will have 5 more available scholarships and it will continue to get more each year until their full allotment is reached in 2016.

---Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal is now a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings. Now nicknamed the SHAQemento Kings.

He will join the ranks of other celebrity owners including Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in a move that is somewhat surprising since the Kings were rivals of O'Neals former team the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Kings haven't been to the playoffs in 7 seasons and were almost moved to Seattle before a new owner bought the team in May.

Day five of the New Orleans Saints training camp at the Greenbrier brought much different temperatures than the Saints are used to at their home site in Louisiana.Long sleeves, long pants, and even some jackets could be spotted at training camp. Not your typical summer day in West Virginia with unseasonal highs for this time of year, and far from what the Saints are used to."When you start to sweat and then the wind blows you're like, oh we aren't in Louisiana are we?
