    Crews fought a house fire in Fayette County Saturday evening for several hours. 911 Dispatchers said the call came in of a house fire on Paint Creek Road near Pax around 6:30 p.m. Pax Fire Department and Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department responded along with several other crews. We're told no one was inside the home when the fire happened.

A new survey indicates that West Virginia's loss of manufacturing jobs is slowing.

Manufacturers News' 2014 West Virginia Manufacturers Register shows that manufacturing employment fell 1 percent between July 2012 and July 2013. That's compared to 1.3 percent during the 2011-2012 survey period.

Coal mining employment fell 5 percent. But the industry remains West Virginia's top industrial sector.

Chemical manufacturing employment declined 3.3 percent. There also were job losses in furniture and fixtures; stone, clay and glass; and fabricated metals.

Employment increased in the electronics, petroleum products, food products, rubber and plastic, and transportation equipment manufacturing.

Overall, the state lost 830 jobs.
