    Crews fought a house fire in Fayette County Saturday evening for several hours. 911 Dispatchers said the call came in of a house fire on Paint Creek Road near Pax around 6:30 p.m. Pax Fire Department and Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department responded along with several other crews. We're told no one was inside the home when the fire happened.

Robert Woodruff and Kim Woodruff both filed separate civil complaints Sept. 30 against former Mingo County Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury as well as several other local officials.

Negotiations to settle failed.

Federal prosecutors indicted Thornsbury on two counts of conspiracy in mid-August, stating that he tried to frame Robert Woodruff for three crimes between 2008 and 2012. Those crimes included drug possession, larceny and assault.

The indictment claims Thornsbury had been having an affair with his secretary, Kim Woodruff, and Thornsbury retaliated against her husband, Robert Woodruff, when she tried to end the relationship.

None of the schemes worked out, but they included a West Virginia State Police trooper, a Mingo County emergency services director and others.

The complaints both Woodruffs filed were against the homeland security director, Jarrod Fletcher, the trooper, Brandon Moore, Gilbert Police officer Nathan Glanden and West Virginia State Police Commander Colonel Jay Smithers.

Robert Woodruff's complaint was filed in the United States Southern District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia in Charleston. Kim Woodruff's complaint was filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

Both Woodruffs are represented by the partners at Neely & Callaghan.
