People looking to do grocery shopping Saturday morning got a surprise at the store.

That is according to WVNS-TV's sister station in Virginia, WDBJ-TV.

EBT systems are down.  It's affecting hometowns not just in Virginia, but across the country.

Our CBS affiliate in Boston says this is a computer glitch from an upgrade.  It adds that the glitch doesn't appear to be part of the government shutdown.

WREG-TV in Memphis, Tennessee reports that Julia Bryan, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Human Resources, a Xerox facility that handles EBT card services for several states, says they experienced a power outage Saturday morning.
