Bristol Motor Speedway to host VT v. Tennessee football in 2016

The Bristol Motor Speedway will host the Battle at Bristol football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech scheduled for September 10th 2016.

The decision as was announced Monday and it is expected the game will break an attendance record by filling the facility that seats more than 150,000 people.

Officials from both universities were there including UT's head coach Butch Jones and Hokies head coach Frank Beamer.

"Not often do you get to be the team or be part of team that is the biggest of all college football and maybe NFL, football in general. That's special," said Beamer.

The NCAA record previously set for attendance was set last month with over 115,000 fans at the Big House for the Michigan v. Notre Dame game.

With a college football playoff on the horizon, the selection committee who will oversee the 2014 post-season action has been named.

Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long has been named the chairman.

Among the list of the other members is WVU's Athletic Director Oliver Luck, Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez, former NFL player Archie Manning and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
