    A sentencing hearing was held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 for a Raleigh County man who pleaded guilty to illegally selling Oxycodone. In May, Gene "Butch" James, 44, of Crab Orchard admitted to charges of Distributing Oxycodone.

On Oct.18, The Dominion Higher Education Partnership awarded a $25,000 grant to Pierpont Community & Technical College for the continued operation of the Petroleum Technology Program.

The grant has been awarded to acquire tools and equipment for the hands-on technical training that is at the core of the program.

The award ceremony took place at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Square board room, located on the top floor at 320 Adams Street, Fairmont, WV.
