Posted: Updated:

The Mountain State is just hours away from the biggest one day festival in the state.   The Bridge Day 2013 celebration begins on Saturday.  59News Reporter Lauren Hensley got an up close look at one of the adrenaline-pumping activities you can participate in at Bridge Day.

It's little known secret open to all thrill seekers attending Bridge Day for a fee. It's called the high-line. This heart pumping, zip-line will take riders through the tree tops straight over the New River. 59News Reporter Lauren Hensley and 59News producer Alyssa Wherry are about to strap up to zip down.

"The rope will be hooked into the harness and this will be the only support to go down," Bridge Day Volunteer Bruce Vest said, as he helps our 59News crew put on the safety gear.

Equip with a harness, helmet and helmet cam, the 59News crew bravely takes the first steps onto the catwalk underneath the New River Gorge Bridge. The crews will plunge 300 feet down into the gorge.

"You will be able to see right down into the middle of the gorge and it is beautiful and you can see a lot of different things, like trains go by rafters you will see that. The fall foliage is probably what it is most known for," Vest said.

Thrill seekers can still sign up to take on the zip line on Bridge Day to learn more click here.  Folks can also call (304) 574-1037 for more information.
