    The annual football game between the Bluefield's is Friday.The first game between the Graham G-men and the Bluefield Beavers dates back to 1911.Tthe two didn't play each other again until 1928, but they've play every year since. The two towns come together for many events, but this is one where they separate and say pick a side.

An Elkins High School student is raising money to help a K-9 at the Elkins Police Department.

Brandon Simmons, 17, got the idea of helping the K-9 after he attended the Junior Trooper Police Academy in 2011. There, he found out that a dog had died in the line of duty because of not having a vest.

Brandon Simmons created a senior project called "Vest for Macy."

He's raising money to buy a bulletproof vest for the dog.

Macy is three years old and has helped police get drugs off the streets.

So far, Simmons has raised more than $500.

The vest costs $849, but the company is allowing Simmons to purchase the vest for Macy at a discount.

"People don't realize that these K-9s are officers just as much as humans are. They feel just like we feel, and they'll put themselves on the line," said Simmons.

"Knowing that we're halfway there is a good feeling. It really shows a lot of maturity on his part. He's a senior in high school, he's a 17-year-old student. He's taking on something where he's raising almost a $1,000 to better someone else," said Angie Pritt, Simmons' mother.
