MINDEN -

The Fayette County Sheriff's Department is looking for a pair of men who may have stolen tools from Kevin's Auto in Hilltop.

A security officer at the used car dealership located on Route 19 reported the crime at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.  The officer said the men broke into the building, but ran off when he confronted them.  The two men apparently crawled under a fence and drove off in a pick up truck.  The two suspects were headed toward Oak Hill.  The security officer chased the truck until he lost track of it in the Minden area.

The truck was identified as a maroon 2006 Chevrolet Silverado.  It had a West Virginia license plate with the registration number 6WD765.  According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, the truck belongs to Chad Allan Surface.

"It is not known at this time whether Mr. Surface is actually involved in the commission of this crime, or if someone was just using his vehicle," said Sheriff Steve Kessler.

The security officer reported that the only thing missing from the dealership was a small toolbox with various hand-tools. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff's Office at 304-574-4216 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-7867.  Tips can also be submitted online at the Fayette County Sheriff's Office web site or the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
