CHARLESTON, WV -

The West Virginia Republican Party hosted more than 400 people at an Oct. 25 dinner in Charleston, featuring Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who also is the host of "Huckabee," on FOX New Channel Saturday mornings.

Huckabee highlighted the event, and was part of a VIP reception before the 7 p.m. dinner.

"It's clear that the momentum is with conservatives here, who want to fight back against the freedoms Washington liberals try to take from us," West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Conrad Lucas said. "Gov. Huckabee is on TV and radio every week reminding folks that we have values worth growing and protecting.

"Thoes begin here with stopping ‘Obamacare' and growing our coal industry again."

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., who is running for U.S. Senate addressed the crowd, as well as Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Sen. Evan Jenkins, R-Cabell, who recently switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican and announced he would run for Congress.

"Times are changing in West Virginia, and the people choose this place and our candidates over those hand-picked by Washington, D.C. liberals," Lucas said. "We will fill the ballot in 2014; we will give every county in this state a conservative voice to send to Charleston and then ask for the vote.

"Nov. 4, 2014 can't come soon enough, so we can elect more friends to help Patrick Morrisey and our GOP legislators here and in Washington."

The West Virginia Democratic Party will host Vice President Joe Biden Nov. 2 in Charleston at its annual Jefferson/Jackson Dinner.
