WVU football drops to Kansas St, PikeView Middle football- Honda Sports team of the week!

Posted: Updated:

---The WVU football team has struggled on the road this year with a record of 0-3 at away games entering their matchup against Kansas State Saturday.

It didn't get any better for the Mountaineers as they lost to the Wildcats 35-12.

WVU led 9-7 into halftime but things went downhill for them in the second half. A 50 yard field goal by Josh Lambert was the last few points they would put on the board before Kansas State scored 28 unanswered points.

The Mountaineers record now drops to 3-5 and Coach Dana Holgorsen acknowledges that his offense will need to step it up to compete in this conference.

"It keeps me up at night. We're not playing winning offensive football. Are we improving, do we look better at times? Yes. Is it good enough to win a Big 12 football game? Absolutely not," said Holgorsen.

Possibly more bad news for the Mountaineers, their Athletic Director Oliver Luck is rumored to be the front runner for the University of Texas Athletic Director position.

Luck graduated from Texas's law school before overseeing the Mountaineers move to the Big 12.

Now, Luck is said to be the top candidate for the position. He hasn't made a public comment on the matter.

---Congratulations to the Honda Sports Team of the week- the PikeView Middle School football team.

The Panthers are made up of 6th through 8th graders who work hard to bring their best to the gridiron for every game throughout the season.

Good grades are essential to being a part of this team, so these young men are athletically and academically tough.

The Panthers finished their season last week in a hard fought battle against the Mountain View Hawks.

Congratulations to the players and coaches of the PikeView Panthers for being our Honda Sports Team of the Week!
