Boston Red Sox win World Series, Rough N' Rowdy Brawl returns to Beckley

Posted: Updated:

---This weekend the Rough 'N Rowdy Brawl will return to Beckley.

This is the second year the Beckley-Raliegh convention center is hosting the boxing event.

The Brawl consists at least 140 fighters, men and women, that will enter the ring in hopes of being named the roughest and rowdiest in Southern West Virginia.

These fighters may be trained or may have just decided to fight on a whim.

But, they will leave it all on the mat this weekend.

The champion from each division gets a trophy, jacket and $1,000.

---To Major League Baseball, after 95 long years Red Sox finally clinched a World Series title at home.

The Sox topped the Cardinals 6-1 in Game 6 of the series Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

Boston's left fielder Jonny Gomes, who played for the Princeton Rays in 2001, played a big part in postseason play.

While his batting average in the playoffs didn't show it, he made hits when hits were needed.

After winning the World Series Wednesday, Gomes explains the atmosphere during such an important game.

"Well I think I'd screw it up if I describe it with words, I can describe it with actions and this place is rocking and rolling," said Gomes.

This is the Red Sox's 3rd World Series win in the last 10 years.
