A trio of indictments were returned on Friday following a special session of the Raleigh County grand jury.

Among those who were indicted is former Raleigh County Sheriff's Deputy Randy Burgess.  Burgess was indicted on three counts of Fraud with and Access Device, three counts of Breaking and Entering, one count of Embezzlement and one count of Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer.

According to the indictment, Burgess broke into cruisers belonging to the Sheriff's Department and allegedly stole gas credit cards.  Burgess then reportedly used the cards to make purchases for himself.

This all happened after he resigned from the Sheriff's Department on July 9.  Before his resignation, Burgess had been on suspension since January.  That was because he is accused of Felony Child Abuse.

The second indictment was against Gary Wayne Richmond.  Richmond was indicted on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Wanton Endangerment with a Firearm and Obstructing an Officer.

Those charges stem from a shootout between Richmond and State Troopers that took place at Richmond's home on New River Road. That happened back in June.  Richmond reportedly answered his door holding a revolver and fired a shot at the trooper.  That lead to a brief shootout in which Richmond was injured.

The final indictment was against Dennis Dewayne Lilly.  Lilly was indicted on 29 charges of Breaking and Entering.  The indictment accuses Lilly of breaking into campers at Lake Stephens State Park.  That happened in Oct. 2012.

Burgess, Richmond and Lilly will be arraigned on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in front of Judge H.L Kirkpatrick.
