A fire investigation is underway in Raleigh County after three homes go up in flames.

Neighbors believe the fires are a Halloween prank. 59News reporter Jessie Gavin finds out what's behind the blazes.

3 homes went up in flames within 3 hours, keeping 3 fire departments very busy early Friday morning.

This all happened in Naoma. The first call came in shortly after midnight on Drews Creek Road. Around 3 a.m. two more homes, on Peach Tree Road and Coal River Road went up in flames.

The home on Drews Creek Road rekindled around 8:30 a.m.

Dispatchers told 59News when fire fighter's arrived to the building on Coal River Road it was fully engulfed in flames.

Neighbors told us they believe the fires to be a cruel Halloween prank to make a quick buck.

"They burn a lot of them around here. On Halloween? Yeah," said neighbor Victor Vealey.

"Yeah about every year. That's what happens. They burn them down then get the bar out to sell. The copper bar, to sell them," neighbor Woody Boggess told us.

"And does that worry you, do you ever think that maybe your house will be burnt down on Halloween? Yeah, there's so many of them, you never know," said Vealey.

"Does it ever make you wonder for your house? Yeah, I always stay pretty close to home. Because of things like this happening? Yes," Boggess said.

"Do you worry about crime in your neighborhood? Yeah, there's so much of it, yeah I do," Vealey told us.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires.
