A new mobile health clinic is unveiled at the Beckley VA hospital

Eligible Veterans living in the southern portion of West Virginia will soon benefit from a mobile health clinic.  Beckley VA Medical Center Director Karin L. McGraw announced on Wednesday that the medical center has received the mobile health clinic that will be used to focus on outreach efforts in Mercer County.

"Beckley VA is committed to increasing the ability of Veterans living in southern West Virginia to take advantage of VA health care" said Director McGraw.

The VA announced that they bought the mobile clinic in July.  They expected it would be delivered early next year, but it showed up early. That will allow the medical center to start offering its services during late January.   The nursing staff has been selected and the medical center is currently recruiting a physician and ancillary care staff.

The mobile clinic, like VA's community based outpatient clinics, is an extension of the medical center and will offer access to primary care services.  The mobile clinic is wheel chair accessible and fully self-contained.  It includes two exam rooms, a waiting area and a restroom, and will be able maintain access to electronic records through the use of satellite technology.
