    A sentencing hearing was held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 for a Raleigh County man who pleaded guilty to illegally selling Oxycodone. In May, Gene "Butch" James, 44, of Crab Orchard admitted to charges of Distributing Oxycodone.

The West Virginia State Police discovered thousands of dollars, dozens of pills and pounds of marijuana after searching a pair of homes in Beckley.

The Beckley-Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit teamed up with the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation to conduct search warrants at two homes on Sunday.  Troopers had learned of suspected drug activity at 603 Scott Avenue and 114 Earle Street.

Troopers arrested Damon Harris, 22, and Quantel Saunders, 19, both of Beckley.  They were arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.  During the search law enforcement officers found 80 Oxycodone Pills, 20 pounds of Marijuana, two loaded guns and around $5,600 in cash.

Saunders and Harris were arraigned in Raleigh County Magistrate Court.  Saunders is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $30,000 bond.
