Coal Camp Creations located just outside of Welch.  Today they received a $50,000 grant from the USDA Rural Development director.  Coal Camp Creations makes models out of McDowell County coal in all shapes and sizes.

The non-profit company's director said they plan to use the money to grow their business with more marketing and advertising.

"People around Welch and McDowell County have not quit, have not given up, they have every reason to pack up and leave but they haven't and some day it will be something and they'll find out what it is and they will keep working towards that," said USDA Rural Development Director Bobby Lewis.

Coal Camp Creations is also now making Soy Candles for sale.  They have all their products available at Tamarack in Beckley as well as their store in McDowell County.
