NEW: The cold front has passed and the frigid air has filtered in. Snow showers will taper off into the afternoon with some flurries lingering for the higher terrain as we go into the overnight. Breezy conditions will persist into the evening with winds dying down as the sun sets. Skies will gradually clear overnight as temps drop drastically. Most places will see lows in the teens with the higher terrain seeing lows around 15.

Wednesday will still be cold under partly sunny skies as highs only reach the mid 30's. The warm up will be slow as highs reach the upper 40s on Thursday then low 50's by Friday as lows warm up to the upper 30s by Friday night. Things will be much warmer this weekend with temps in the mid to upper 50s for Saturday and around 60 for Sunday with a chance of rain moving in halfway through the weekend.

NEW: The approaching cold front is right on track to arrive overnight Monday into Tuesday morning. As originally forecasted, Veteran's Day will be warm and sunny but changes will come abruptly. A cold front is forecasted to pass overnight bringing with it rain and cold temps. The rain will start shortly after midnight from the NW and will quickly switch to snow as the cold air rushes in behind the cold front. Look for temps to drop quickly and all the rain switching to snow by 5am.

Expect early morning snow showers with possibly the heaviest amounts falling during the Tuesday morning commute. Roads will be slick as temps will fall to below freezing in most spots with the highest elevations dropping into the mid to upper 20s before sunup. Bridges, overpasses and shaded areas will be especially slick throughout the morning and daytime hours as the temps will only warm up to the low to mid 30s.

The snow will taper off throughout midday with the highest elevations in the eastern counties seeing flurries into the evening. By the time the snow exits the area we could see 1"-2" in the lowlands and up to 3" in the higher terrain.

The StormTracker 59 Meteorologists continue to track the possibility of a slick and snowy commute Tuesday morning.

"A cold front will push into the area late Monday night into Tuesday morning.  Temperatures on Monday will warm into the 50s so when the precipitation arrives, it will initially start as a period of light rain.  Arctic air will filter in behind the cold front and gradually change the rain over to light snow during the pre-dawn hours on Tuesday," said Meteorologist Kristin Ketchell.

The most current version of the Stormtracker 59 Predictor model shows snow accumulations around one inch for most of the area with up to 3 inches in higher elevations along the ridges.

"Its going to be really difficult for the snow to stick because of how warm the ground has been, so we are expecting most of the snow to accumulate on grassy and cold surfaces," said Ketchell.  "The heaviest snow will likely fall during the Tuesday morning commute, which could definitely make some roads slick around the area.  Just take it slow and leave yourself some extra time Tuesday morning."

The StormTracker 59 Meteorologists are determined to keep you ahead of the storm and will continue to monitor the situation by providing the most up-to-date information on the incoming snow.
