PikeView Soccer named Sports Team of the Week, VT beats WVU on the court

---The PikeView men's soccer team was chosen as the Honda Sports Team of the week this week.

The Panthers started out the season with one goal in mind, to win the state championship. Saturday they played East Fairmont in their last game of the season.

With a winning goal from Isaac Van Blaricon the Panthers won the game 1-0. They took home the title and the trophy.

This is the first state title the soccer team has brought back to PikeView.

---Tuesday a big rivalry match up went down in Blacksburg as Virginia Tech and WVU went head to head on the hardwood.

It was all West Virginia in the first half. The Mountaineers biggest lead was 17 until Virginia Tech closed the gap only trailing by 5 at halftime.

But, in the second half the Hokies were 14 of 23 from the floor and grabbed the lead winning 87-82.

The Mountaineers and Hokies are both now 1-1 on the season. This was a big win for Virginia Tech who made the announcement today that Athletic Director Jim Weaver will retire at the end of this year.
