SENECA ROCKS, WV (AP) -

The U.S. Forest Service says a 1,400-acre fire in the Monongahela National Forest is 40 percent contained.

The fire was reported Nov. 10 in the Cheat-Potomac Ranger District of the national forest. That is about 11 miles southwest of Petersburg and 3 miles northeast of Seneca Rocks in Pendleton County.

The Forest Service said Saturday about 175 firefighters and support staff and several pieces of heavy equipment were battling the fire. A helicopter is also assisting.

There have been no reports of structure damage or injuries.
