PRINCETON -

UPDATE:

A day care worker is facing child charges. Lindsey Bowling is arrested on 150 counts of possessing child pornography. Deputies conducted a search warrant Thursday in the Princeton area and arrested Bowling that night. He was arraigned Friday afternoon. What's even more shocking than the charges is where Bowling was employed during the time of his arrest.

In a statement to Sheriff''s deputies Bowling said he worked at Lil Camper Dependable Child Care in Princeton for approximately 3 to 4 years. "From his statement the age range that he taught, he described himself as a teacher at the day care was 5 to 12," Cpl. Steven Sommers with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department said.

And this isn't Bowling's first job working with children. "He also said he worked at a day care center at Concord University for several years," Cpl. Sommers said.

So with his extensive career in childcare, we wanted to know, were local children exploited? It's a question we asked the authorities.

"There is no evidence right now that would lead me to believe that any children he came in contact with have been harmed. But as I said before the only way to be 100 percent sure is until after the forensics to get back. But if parents are concerned they need to call me or call state police. We want to make sure no child has been harmed," Cpl. Sommers said

59News has learned the state requires anyone working at a day care to pass a criminal background check. We did check into Bowling's criminal history and found he has a clean record in Mercer County. According to Cpl. Sommers Bowling is not a known violator to law enforcement officials and would have passed a background check.

59News has also learned that each count he has been charged with could carry a maximum sentence of 2 years and the state has passed the case along to Federal Prosecutors. Bowling could be prosecuted in federal court.

The arresting deputy Detective Corporal Steven Sommers was assisted by West Virginia State Police and the Princeton Police Department Detective Bureau.

Mercer County deputies with the help of an Investigator with the WV Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Lindsey Bowling of Princeton on charges of child pornography.

Deputies conducted a search warrant Thursday in the Princeton and arrested Bowling for 150 counts of receiving and possessing material visually portraying a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

According to a press release from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, Bowling is employed as a child care worker at Lil Camper Dependable Child Care in Princeton.

The release states as of Bowling's arrest there is no evidence to suggest that any children he worked with were harmed in any way but the investigation is ongoing.

Bowling is being held in Bluefield City Jail awaiting arraignment in Mercer County Magistrate Court.

Bowling will be arraigned on November 22nd.

The arresting deputy Detective-Corporal Steven Sommers was assisted by WV State Police, and the Princeton Police Department Detective Bureau.
