Officers and deputies from three law enforcement agencies were involved in a stolen car investigation and high-speed chase that spanned two counties.

Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a stolen vehicle report at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.  The truck belonged to a man who was hunting in the Hico area and witnessed the theft.  When deputies tried to pull the suspects over in Fayetteville, they hit the gas and took off down Route 19.  Officers with Oak Hill Police were able to stop the truck near the intersection of Appalachian Drive.

Inside were Byron Hatfield, 36, of Mullens, Lakin Celestine Clark, 21, of Summersville, Christopher Ryan Knight, 23, of Summersville and a 16-year-old juvenile.  Knight reportedly had a "massive" head wound.  He was taken to Plateau Medical Center and later transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center.  His condition is not known at this time.

According to a release from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the four were involved in the theft of a car from the Summersville area earlier in the morning.  They also allegedly stole license plates from another car were the juvenile lived.  Investigators said that the car that they stole was wrecked near the intersection of Route 60 and Route 19.  Knight was reportedly thrown from the car.  That was where deputies believe he received the head wound.  The four then took a truck, belonging to the hunter who called in the theft.

Hatfield is charged with Conspiracy for Commit a Felony, Grand Larceny, Fleeing in a Vehicle and Giving False Information to a Police Officer.  Clark is charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Grand Larceny and Giving False Information to a Police Officer.  Knight will face similar charges when he is released from the hospital. The teen will be charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Grand Larceny.
