The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance (WVDVA) has announced the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery (DCKMSVC) will hold a ceremony to observe Wreaths Across America Day at noon on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

The ceremony includes the laying of seven wreaths, each with a different design to represent the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and POW/MIA, respectively. Volunteers will place additional wreaths throughout the cemetery once the ceremony is completed.

This is the second year the DCKMSVC will participate in Wreaths Across America Day and it is expected that at least 750 other participating locations throughout the country will conduct similar ceremonies at the same time and date. The goal of this effort is to honor the sacrifices of all veterans and teach younger generations about the high cost of freedom.

For more information about the event, please visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. To donate a wreath to the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, please visit http://waa.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1859&pg=entry. Donations are accepted all year round and are tax deductible.

The DCKMSVC is located at 130 Academy Drive, Dunbar, WV 25064.
