    Two people were killed in a car crash Sunday, August 31. Troopers at the Princeton detachment of the West Virginia State Police said three people were traveling from Cheers in Princeton back home to Northfork when they crashed on Route 52 near Switchback. One man and one woman were killed and one man was sent to Bluefield Medical Center. Troopers told us in a statement made by the survivor, the man said the driver was drunk and driving too fast on wet roads when they lost control of the car.T...

    The Raleigh County Sheriffs Office made an arrest Sunday after a man was murdered in Glen White.Joe Collins was arrested and is being charged with 1st degree murder for the shooting and killing of Larry Totten.The incident occurred Sunday morning at Mr. Tottens residence.

Activities and achievements: Evergreen has been a longtime nursing home and hospital volunteer, giving her time to programs at Thomas Memorial Hospital and Charleston Area Medical Center, as well as volunteering at the Clay Center and at a local church's youth arts camp. She is a member of her school's recycling club, baking club, Junior Civitan Club and Beta Club, and she has run track and been a majorette. Evergreen is in her 12th year as a Girl Scout, earning the Silver Award and helping younger scouts work toward the Bronze Award. She attended Rhododendron Girls State and the West Virginia University STEM camp.

Plans: Evergreen plans to attend college next fall and is considering starting out at a smaller school, such as West Virginia Wesleyan, before transferring to a larger university. She wants to major in a field of engineering, but she sees herself eventually attending medical school.
