Davis Trust Company is continuing, for the fourth straight year, its commitment to fully sponsor a Davis & Elkins College Highlands Scholarship with a $12,500 gift for the current 2013-2014 academic year.

The bank made its presentation recently in a ceremony attended by the scholarship recipient, D.J. Crawford, a senior from Elkins, and Davis & Elkins College President Michael P. Mihalyo.

"As in the past, Davis Trust Company has always been willing to aid the community and college," Davis Trust President and Chief Executive Officer Michael R. Price said. "Our Board of Directors and employees are more than happy to do it."

In 2009, the College introduced the Highlands Scholars program which offers an annual $14,000 scholarship to students living on campus and $11,000 each year to commuter students.

All graduating seniors in Barbour, Randolph, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Tucker, Upshur and Webster counties who achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to receive the scholarship.

"We're most appreciative to Davis Trust Company and Mike for their generous support of our Highlands Scholars Program," Mihalyo said. "Without the support of our generous business partners and donors, it would not be possible for many of our students in the region to receive the high level of education that we're able to provide at D&E."
