POWELLTON -

Officers with the Smithers Police Department assisted Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies an investigation into a break-in that happened at a convenience store.

Dispatchers called deputies to the scene at around 8 p.m. on Christmas Day.  The initial report was that a person was using a stick to move surveillance cameras. When an officer with the Smithers Police Department arrived on the scene there was an open door.

The officer was joined by a Fayette County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit.  They searched the store, but found no one inside and nothing was taken.  The case is being investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.  Anyone with tips should contact the Sheriff's Office at 304-574-4304.
