PRINCETON -

The New Year came to the City of Princeton in new style.

Princeton Renaissance kicked off its first ever Downtown Countdown.

Organizers say thousands came to Princeton Town Square to celebrate the end of 2013 and the start of 2014.   Four venues, the Renaissance Theatre, The Turnaround, The Hot Chocolate Spot and Princeton Town Square, hosted different forms of entertainment including jazz music to rock and roll, classical and dance music.

Lori McKinney with Princeton Renaissance said street performers entertained the crowd.

A ball was dropped and a fireworks show helped usher in the new year.

McKinney said a solo saxophone played auld Lang syne right as the clock struck midnight.
