Cutler signs 7 year deal, teams prepare for BCS bowl games Friday

Posted: Updated:

---It's official, the Chicago Bears are sticking with their franchise quarterback Jay Cutler.

It was announced today that Cutler signed a 7 year contract with the Bears.

The amount was not disclosed but it is expected to be almost $18 million per year.

This comes after the Bears went 8-8 on the season, losing their last regular season game in a close one to the Packers.

Cutler who would have been a free agent had he not been re-signed, is happy to stay on with the team.

"There's definitely going to be people asking this was the wrong move, and that's fine. That's their opinion. The guys in this building, the people in this building will stick together and keep going in the direction that we think is right," said Cutler.

This year will be Cutler's 6 season with Chicago.

---As the NFL playoffs are gearing up the college football season is winding down. But, before the National Championship between Florida State and Auburn Monday, there are some big games this weekend to forward to.

Ohio State and Clemson are in Miami preparing for the Orange Bowl. The one-loss Buckeyes who fell to Michigan State in the Big 10 championship will face Clemson who's only losses came from Florida State and South Carolina.

Another big bowl game to watch is the Cotton Bowl between Missouri and Oklahoma State. Both teams have two losses on the season and this will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2011 when they were both in the Big 12. The Tigers are hoping to redeem themselves after a 59-42 loss to Auburn in the SEC title game.

The Cowboys only losses came from rival Oklahoma and WVU.
