A missing, runaway teen from Florida is found safely in Raleigh County.

The 17-year-old girl from Citrus County, has been missing since October 19.   She was found in Beckley by U.S. Marshals.

Members of the C.U.F.F.E.D. task force from the Beckley Police Department, Raleigh County sheriff's office and deputies from the U.S. Marshals service received a top on December 26 from a sheriff's detective in Florida.   The tip said a 17-year-old girl who had been reported missing was possibly staying in the Raleigh County area.

According to a press release from Chief Tim Deems with the Beckley police department, the task force was able to learn the teen was homeless and living on the streets somewhere in the downtown Beckley area.

Early on the morning of New Year's Eve, members of the task force received a tip that the girl would be meeting an individual on East Prince Street in Beckley to flee the area in an attempt to avoid the authorities.   Task force members conducted surveillance on East Prince Street and at approximately 9:30 a.m. the missing girl was spotted and taken into protective custody.

The teen girl was brought before Raleigh County Circuit Judge Kirkpatrick for a hearing.  The teen was transported to a juvenile center in Huntington, WV until her family can make arrangements to return the girl to her Florida home.
