Carol Richardson-Heft is joining Potomac State College of West Virginia University as visiting instructor of mathematics. 

Richardson-Heft earned her master's degree from the University of Maryland in College Park, Md., and her bachelor's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va. She served in the Peace Corps in Zaire, where she received intensive language and cross-cultural training. 

Richardson-Heft previously worked as a substitute teacher in schools in Allegany County, Md., and as a lecturer at Washington College in Chestertown, Md.

In other news at Potomac State, Matthew Adams joined the school as a visiting instructor of English. 

Adams earned his master's of fine arts degree with a concentration in fiction writing from Bennington College in Bennington, Vt. He is working on a master's of science degree in professional counseling from Carlow University in Pittsburgh.

Adams' bachelor's degree, in mass communications with a minor in English literature, is from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa. 

Adams previously served as a faculty member at the Community College of Allegheny County, Point Park University and Duquesne University, all in Pittsburgh. 

Adams also serves as the director of "From the Inside Out" Writing Workshops, where he provides guidance on memoir and journal writing, and Rhythm for the Spoken Word, a workshop that combines drumming and poetry writing. He is a regular contributor to "Midnight Radio" with Bricolage Theater in Pittsburgh.
