CLARKSBURG, WV -

Brian C. Sheppard, a longtime managing director with Dominion Transmission, is set to become vice president for pipeline operations next spring when another executive leaves the company.

Sheppard's promotion is set to take effect April 1 with the retirement of Jeffrey L. Barger. Sheppard will be based in Clarksburg and will report to Diane Leopold, senior vice president-Dominion Transmission.

Sheppard joined CNG Transmission in 1988 as a production engineer and has held many positions in his 25 years with the company. In 2003, he was responsible for operations at the Hastings Extraction Plant. In 2009, he was promoted to managing director-Planning & Development in Dominion Exploration & Production. He returned to Dominion Transmission in 2010 in his current job as managing director of pipeline operations where his responsibilities include gas control, compression services, operations support, safety and technical training.

Sheppard holds a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Marietta College in Ohio and is a registered professional engineer in West Virginia. He served on the 2013 Harrison County United Way Campaign Cabinet as the co-chair of the Natural Resources Division.

Barger, responsible for Dominion Transmission's natural gas pipeline and storage operations, has more than 35 years' experience with the company. He joined Consolidated Natural Gas in 1977 and held numerous positions in engineering and operations in Transmission. He was named to his current position in February 2000 upon the merger of CNG with Dominion.

Barger serves on the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America's Operations, Safety & Environmental Committee. He also served as the 2013 Harrison County United Way Campaign chairman and is past chairman of the United Hospital Foundation Board.

He is a member of the board of several organizations, including the West Virginia Independent College & University Foundation, the Harrison County United Way, the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce and the United Hospital Center, where he also serves as secretary. Barger earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
