Beckley Area Derby Dames- Honda Sports team of the week! WVU 2-0 in conference play

---Honda Sports Team of the Week!

The Beckley Area Derby Dames is a local roller Derby team where women compete in the full contact sport.

In 2013 these ladies were undefeated and 7 members of the team were invited to represent West Virginia in the Battle of the All-Stars Roller Derby in Philadelphia.

Though these women are vicious and very competitive on skates, they also give back to the community.

They donated more than $4,000 to many local charity organizations including the Women's Resource Center, the Raleigh County Humane Society and more.

A big thank you to Kelly and Rodney Elkins who sent in video from practice.

The WVU Men's basketball team is now in conference play and picked up two back to back road wins.

After defeating TCU by 5 points on Saturday, the Mountaineers were in Lubbock Texas Monday taking on Texas Tech.

The Big 12 battle stayed pretty even throughout most of the game, the Red Raiders trailed by 6 at halftime but fought back to tie it up at the end of regulation, and the game went into overtime.

With Juwan Staten scoring a game high 25 points, WVU took the win in OT with the final score 89 to 86.

---College Football

It was an exciting end to the college football season as Florida State and Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston defeated Auburn in one of the most memorable BCS National Championships.

Unfortunately for some ordering from the Seminole shop online, the Championship T-shirt they originally were selling had the correct score, but the wrong winner.

The official online store for FSU Athletics has since fixed the shirt to the correct score.
