West Virginia University's College of Law is hosting a book reading and discussion with Professor Charles DiSalvo at noon Jan. 15 in the Davis Gallery at the law school. Admission is free and the public may attend.

DiSalvo is the author of M.K.Gandhi, Attorney at Law: The Man Before the Mahatma. It's the first biography that delves into the Indian leader's early years in the legal profession and how the law influenced his transformation into a pioneer and icon of civil disobedience. The book is available now in bookstores and online.

International Gandhi scholar Thomas Weber, a retired professor and coordinator of peace studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, will deliver a video message at the book reading.

DiSalvo has discussed his groundbreaking research on Gandhi's years as a lawyer at the Australian National University in Canberra, the Jaipur International Book Festival in India, and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

The Woodrow A. Potesta Professor of Law at WVU, DiSalvo teaches one of the few law school courses in the country on civil disobedience. He joined the College of Law faculty in 1979 and
