The first official presidential search committee for West Virginia University met this afternoon.

The committee consists of more than 20 faculty members, staff, alumni, students, and others involved with the university.

They gathered at the Mountainlair to begin the next phase of selecting the new university president.

The group today went over their confidentiality agreements and other procedural matters before going into executive sessions.

Following the announced departure of Jim Clements in November, E. Gordon Gee was named president for a term while a search for a permanent leader takes place. An executive search firm will be selected in the near future to help with the process.

To review the characteristics and qualities the panel is looking for in the next president and review the process and timeline visit: http://presidentialsearch.wvu.edu.

A portion of the meeting was held in executive session.
The Board of Governors originally set a goal for June to have the next president selected for WVU.
