Frontier Communications extends contract with Communications Workers of America until April

CHARLESTON, WV -

Frontier Communications has extended its contract with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) until April 5, 2014.

The extension gives both parties additional time to reach an agreement, according to a news release issued by Frontier Communications.

Company officials say they see this third extension of their existing contract as an opportunity to work directly with CWA leadership to reach a new contract. The CWA contract covers 1,550 West Virginia employees.

In July 2013, both companies agreed to extend the Frontier-CWA West Virginia collective bargaining agreement, which was scheduled to expire in early August, to Oct. 12, 2013.

On Oct. 5, 2013, Frontier and CWA officials agreed to extend the collective bargaining agreement to Jan. 18, 2014.
