Wheeling Jesuit University senior volleyball All-American Jenna Pew will continue her sporting passion this summer when she travels to Europe to be part of the U.S.A. Athletes International "All-American European Experience."

Pew accepted an invitation to play in the DKV International Tournament in the Netherlands May 27-June 3. The American Volleyball Coaches Association asked Pew to join the team after her performance on the court the last four years at WJU.

Pew, who has a college volleyball record of 145-18, was named an All-American in December, along with being named the WVIAC player of the year in 2012 and the Mountain East Conference player of the year in 2013. Being an All-American is the most prestigious college athletic award in the nation.

"I've always wanted to travel and this is the perfect opportunity to go with a group of people who share my passion for the sport," Pew said. "I have had an unbelievable academic and athletic experience at WJU, and this will top it off as my last accomplishment and effort as a collegiate athlete."

The trip for Pew, and others from across the nation, will consist of a balance between playing volleyball and touring the area.

"I am so proud of Jenna. I have watched her grow into an outstanding student-athlete from her freshman year to senior year," said WJU Head Volleyball Coach Christ Benner. "She deserves all her wards and recognition. I am excited to see her be part of this European volleyball experience."

Pew will arrive in the Netherlands May 27. She will compete in Amsterdam, Utrecht and then to Groningen as part of the DKV games.

Pew who is from Marshallville, Ohio will graduate from Wheeling Jesuit in May with a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a specialization in secondary education.

The WJU women's volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four for the first time in university history on Dec. 12, 2013. The team's Mountain East conference record for the 2013 season was 16-0.
