Bray Cary: The Water Crisis has become a credibility crisis

Posted: Updated:

No one seems to know the truth and no national experts have been brought into West Virginia to give us guidance. As a result, we have lost confidence in West Virginia American Water and in our state government leaders.

I implore Governor Tomblin to urgently reach out to United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to send in teams of experts to determine if our water is truly safe, what we have been exposed to, and how to treat short and long term effects.  I would hope all members of our Congressional delegation would help our Governor by using every means possible to get teams from CDC and the EPA on the ground quickly before the evidence has disappeared or simply washed away.

We need nationally respected experts, with no agenda, to find out what truly happened, how to clean it up, and most importantly what are the health consequences of this disaster. Anything else will be a failure of our state government and leadership and most of all, disrespectful to the great people of this state and our future.
