A New Jersey man who admitted he planned to distribute oxycodone in the Beckley area has been sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said William Ponder, 24, of Teaneck, N.J. pleaded guilty in October to possessing the pills, seized during the execution of a search warrant at a home where he was staying in Mabscott.

U.S. District Judge Irene Berger sentenced Ponder, and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Beckley police investigated the case.
