In the middle of a snow storm and bad roads, firefighters are dealing with a truck that went over a hill and caught fire along the West Virginia Turnpike.

Dispatchers said that a tractor-trailer went over a hill near mile marker 34 at around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.  When the truck hit the guardrail, one of the fuel tanks ruptured and caught fire.  Initial reports were that the tank had exploded, but officials have confirmed that was not the case.

The accident was at mile marker 34 in the northbound lanes of the turnpike.  Firefighters with the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department and State Troopers with the turnpike detachment were on the scene.  Officials said that one person was taken to the hospital.  There is no word on that persons identity or the extent of the injuries.
