CHARLESTON, WV -

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Peggy Myers-Smith to the West Virginia Tourism Commission. 

The president/CEO of the Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2007, she will represent all West Virginia CVBs.

The private-public board serves as a board of directors for the West Virginia Division of Tourism.

Myers-Smith, a certified tourism marketing professional, serves on the national board of directors of the Southeast Tourism Society and in 2012 was appointed the society's vice chairwoman for West Virginia. She also serves on the society's strategic planning committee.

She also serves on the boards at the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Morgantown, Sundale Rehabilitation & Long Term Care and Morgantown Municipal Airport Advisory Committee.

Before joining the CVB, she spent 17 years at the manager of development programs at West Virginia University Children's Hospital, where she also was West Virginia director of Children's Miracle Network.
