    A fire late Thursday night leaves a family in McDowell County homeless. Everyone was able to get out of the home in Raysal safely, but a friend of the family, who saved their dog, told us it was a very close call.

Foodland locations in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky are accepting nominations for potential Foodland Scholarship recipients, each of whom will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

For more than 20 years, Foodland has hosted its scholarship program open to seniors at nearby high schools who are looking to continue their post-secondary education. During that time, more than 1,000 scholarships have been awarded totaling more than $1 million.

The application process is open now, and the deadline for applying is March 1. Nomination forms are available at each participating store location.
